Caroma Urbane® II Universal Accessories 

This distinctive range has been acknowledged for providing well-designed support solutions, enabling individuals of all ages to access their bathrooms safely and conveniently. The products seamlessly combine functionality with aesthetics, assisting users in proactively preparing their homes for the future without negative connotation. The project was commended by judges as a benchmark in inclusive and universal design, particularly noting its collaborative development, meticulous attention to detail, and intuitive, accessible user experience. 

The Good Design Award judges commented that the “Caroma Urbane® II Universal Accessories offer thoughtfully designed solutions that provide practical support, ensuring people of all ages can use their bathroom safely and effortlessly. A thoughtful, well-executed response to an overlooked need. By blending support and aesthetics, this design empowers users to proactively future proof their homes without stigma”.  

The judges further commented that the products are a “great example of inclusive design through co-creation. A real innovation within this category and a clear, desirable and valuable improvement on the status quo wrapped up in well resolved and desirable form, proportion and details. The care and attention to detail in this design are evident. What stands out most is how the focus on inclusive and universal design is immediately apparent well before it's even explained. That’s a true mark of good design: intuitive, accessible, and effortless”.  

Caroma Cube CleanFlush® 0.8L Urinal 

This innovative urinal design received praise for its use of advanced flushing technology to improve both hygiene and performance, successfully blending modern design with practical solutions. The judges highlighted its ability to save water and reduce installation costs, its use of Caroma GermGard® materials, better hydraulic efficiency, and compatibility with retrofits; allowing upgrades without creating unnecessary waste. 

The Good Design Award judges commented that by “reimagining an iconic design, Caroma’s Design Team explored advanced flushing technologies to enhance both hygiene and performance, combining cutting-edge design with practical innovation. A visually appealing design that aligns well with the aesthetics of a modern basin. The flushing mechanism appears innovative and thoughtfully engineered and shows valid design-led innovation in a challenging category.  

The judges further commentated on the “clean and clever design solution, successfully addressing a genuine problem space. A good example of design innovation from Australia offering a smart, hygienic refresh of an iconic product with water and installation savings. Strong use of material innovation (Caroma GermGard®) and improved hydraulic performance. Retrofit compatibility adds value without waste. A good example of next gen design in this iconic category! An outstanding contribution to good design.” 

These awards are one of many Good Design Awards that Caroma has won over the years. From the introduction to Caroma CleanFlush ® to winning the Design Team of the Year, the core focus of the team has held steady; to rethink the ways we use bathrooms.
